Full Synopsis
Two women, Veronica and Gretchen, are seated on a leather bench in the lobby of a theater, debating which play to see. Veronica is engrossed in her purse, continuously searching for a suitable candy, while Gretchen returns from a concessions stand empty-handed, complaining of hunger.
As they exchange banter, Veronica's incessant candy-eating annoys Gretchen, who expresses her frustration at the lack of refreshments in the closed concession stand. Despite Gretchen's insistence on leaving, Veronica remains adamant about waiting for Waiting for Godot, revealing her disdain for the alternative, Two Gentlemen of Verona, and her distaste for Balzac.
Their dialogue is filled with misunderstandings, fueled by Veronica's mistaken belief that Two Gentlemen of Verona is a play by Balzac, not Shakespeare. As Gretchen instigates further confusion and disagreement, their interaction escalates into a heated argument, with Gretchen eventually storming off in frustration.
Left alone, Veronica continues to shuffle through her purse, indulging in candy while awaiting Gretchen's return. When Gretchen reappears, their reconciliation is marked by shared snacks and a mutual disdain of their ongoing wait. Despite their earlier discord, the scene ends with the two women reaffirming their commitment to wait, albeit with a sense of resignation.
